Atlas Golf Privacy Policy

1. Who We Are and Scope
Atlas Technologies Oy ("Atlas", "Atlas Golf", "we", "our", or "us") provides the Atlas mobile application, any Atlas website we operate, customer support, and related connected services (collectively, the "Services"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, store, and otherwise process personal data when you use the Services, create an account, communicate with us, or otherwise interact with Atlas.
2. What This Policy Covers
This Privacy Policy applies to personal data and related information processed in connection with the Services, including account and profile data, golf and performance data, training and coaching features, messaging and social features, subscription and billing-related interactions, customer support, and other service operations. It does not apply to third-party products, services, or websites that are not operated by Atlas, even if they are linked to or integrated with the Services.
3. Information You Provide Directly
We collect information that you choose to provide to us directly. This may include your full name, email address, username, password, role selection, country, bio, onboarding responses, settings, marketing preferences, support messages, and other account-related information. It may also include golf round data, shot data, training records, coaching notes, coach or player connection information, chat messages, comments, and other content you create or submit through the Services.
If you upload or submit media or files, such as profile images, thread images, photos, videos, or documents, we collect and process that content as needed to host, display, transmit, store, and otherwise provide the Services. Atlas currently supports media associated with user profiles, chat threads, chat messages, drills, rounds, trainings, and related training items. You are responsible for ensuring that you have the necessary rights and permissions for any content you submit.
4. Information We Collect Automatically
When you use the Services, we may automatically collect certain technical and usage information. This may include device type, operating system, browser type, app version, language settings, identifiers, IP address, network information, crash data, log data, feature usage, access times, pages or screens viewed, referring URLs, and similar diagnostic or analytics information.
If you enable push notifications, Atlas may also collect and process push-related device information such as a push token, platform, app build information, and a device identifier needed to register and manage notifications.
If and when you use an Atlas website, we may also use cookies, software development kits, local storage, pixels, or similar technologies to remember preferences, maintain sessions, analyze traffic, improve functionality, and measure service performance.
5. Location and Golf Activity Data
Depending on the features you use, Atlas may collect or receive location-related and golf activity data, including approximate or precise location data, golf course and hole context, shot locations, route or movement information, and related performance data. We use this information to provide golf and location-based features such as round tracking, map display, shot entry, and training analysis.
Where required by your device or applicable law, we rely on device permissions or other appropriate controls before collecting precise location data. If you decline or disable location permissions, some Atlas features may not function properly or may be unavailable.
6. Authentication and Third-Party Sign-In
Atlas currently supports account access using credentials created directly with us, including email/password account creation and sign-in, as well as third-party sign-in providers including Google and Apple. Apple sign-in is only available on supported iOS devices. If you choose a third-party sign-in method, we may receive information from that provider, such as your name, email address, profile image, unique account identifier, or other information that the provider makes available to us based on your settings and permissions with that provider.
Your use of third-party sign-in services is also governed by the relevant provider's own terms and privacy practices.
7. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect for legitimate business and operational purposes, including to:
- create, authenticate, maintain, and secure user accounts;
- provide golf tracking, training, coaching, messaging, media, and related service features;
- manage coach/player connections and chat interactions;
- operate subscriptions, manage access levels, and administer billing-related interactions;
- send service messages, updates, alerts, and support communications;
- respond to questions, requests, and customer support matters;
- personalize the user experience and present relevant content or recommendations;
- monitor usage, analyze trends, troubleshoot issues, and improve the Services;
- detect, investigate, and prevent fraud, abuse, unauthorized access, and other harmful activity; and
- comply with legal obligations, enforce our terms, and protect our rights and the rights of others.
8. How We Share Your Information
We may share information in the following circumstances:
- with vendors, contractors, and service providers that process information on our behalf;
- with payment and subscription platforms as needed to process purchases and manage paid access;
- with other Atlas users where profiles, coach/player relationships, chat, or other product features require that sharing;
- with professional advisers, auditors, insurers, or legal counsel where reasonably necessary;
- to comply with law, regulation, legal process, or lawful government requests;
- to protect the Services, our users, or the public from fraud, abuse, security threats, or other harm; and
- in connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, sale of assets, bankruptcy, or similar business transaction.
Based on the current Atlas app and settings disclosures, Atlas currently uses or is configured to use third-party providers and platforms including Supabase for authentication, database, and storage services, Mapbox for maps and map imagery, Expo notification services for push token and notification infrastructure, and Apple and Google for sign-in, app distribution, and store-managed subscriptions where applicable.
We may also disclose aggregated, de-identified, or anonymized information that does not reasonably identify you, where permitted by applicable law.
9. Subscriptions, Billing, and App Stores
Some parts of the Services may be offered on a paid or subscription basis. In the current Atlas app flow, subscriptions are managed through the Apple App Store and Google Play. Atlas may receive subscription-related information such as plan, tier, provider, billing period, subscription status, renewal status, transaction identifiers, and limited billing metadata needed to provide the Services, manage access, handle support, and maintain records.
Atlas generally does not receive or store your full payment card details when those details are handled by an app store or other third-party payment infrastructure. Billing, refunds, renewals, cancellations, and payment methods may also be subject to the terms and policies of the relevant platform.
10. Marketing, Personalization, and Notifications
Atlas may send service-related communications that are necessary for account management, security, legal notices, transactions, subscription status, technical updates, support, and other operational purposes. These communications are generally not promotional in nature.
Atlas also supports a marketing opt-in setting. Marketing communications are optional, and the current app settings default marketing opt-in to off unless you choose to enable it. You may opt out of marketing communications at any time through available settings, unsubscribe links, or by contacting us at office@atlasgolfapp.com. Opting out of marketing communications will not affect service-related communications.
Atlas currently treats core in-app personalization as part of the required service experience. The app settings indicate that core personalization is required and not offered as a standalone opt-out setting inside the app.
If you enable push notifications, Atlas may send push notifications for items such as chat messages, reminders, training follow-ups, stalled round prompts, inactivity prompts, and coach/player activity updates, depending on your role, settings, and the features you use. You can usually control push notifications through your device settings or in-service preferences.
11. Data Retention
We retain personal data for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the Services, maintain your account, fulfill the purposes described in this Privacy Policy, resolve disputes, enforce agreements, comply with legal obligations, and protect our legitimate interests. Retention periods may vary depending on the type of data, the feature involved, the sensitivity of the data, and applicable legal requirements.
For example, we may retain account and profile data while your account remains active, retain golf and training data until you delete it or your account is deleted, retain communications and support history as needed for service administration, and retain logs, backups, or security records for limited periods consistent with operational needs. Atlas also uses an online-first architecture with local device caching for offline fallback, which means limited local copies of information may remain on a device until refreshed, signed out, or deleted.
In some cases, we may delete, aggregate, or anonymize information so that it can no longer reasonably identify you.
12. Your Rights and Choices
Depending on where you live and the laws that apply to you, you may have rights regarding your personal data, including the right to request access, correction, deletion, restriction, objection, withdrawal of consent where processing is based on consent, or data portability. You may also have the right to manage certain privacy, marketing, notification, and account settings through the Services or your device.
You may contact us at office@atlasgolfapp.com to exercise available rights or make a privacy-related request. We may ask you to verify your identity before responding, and we may decline or limit requests where permitted by law. You may also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority or other regulator in your jurisdiction.
13. Account Deletion
Atlas currently offers an in-app account deletion flow through the Settings area. In the current app implementation, account deletion requires an online connection and a typed confirmation. Atlas then starts a staged deletion process that may include database cleanup, storage deletion, chat anonymization, deletion of the authentication account, and local device cleanup before signing the user out.
If your account is deleted, you may lose access to the Services and to information associated with the account. Some information may be deleted immediately, while other information may be deleted over time from active systems, backups, caches, and archives. We may retain certain information after account deletion where reasonably necessary to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, enforce agreements, detect or prevent abuse, protect security, maintain records of transactions or consent, or preserve aggregated or anonymized information that no longer identifies you.
14. International Data Transfers
Atlas or its service providers may process and store information in countries other than the country where you reside. As a result, your information may be transferred to jurisdictions that may have data protection laws different from those in your jurisdiction. Where required by applicable law, we will use appropriate safeguards for cross-border transfers, which may include contractual protections, internal policies, or other legally recognized transfer mechanisms.
15. Children, Minimum Age, and App Store Age Ratings
The Services may be assigned age ratings by app stores for informational and parental-control purposes. Those app store age ratings may vary by country, region, and platform version, and they do not by themselves determine whether a person is legally permitted to use the Services.
The Services are not intended for children under 13, or any higher minimum age required by applicable law in the relevant jurisdiction. If you are below the age required to use the Services independently, you may use the Services only with any required permission, supervision, or authorization from a parent or legal guardian.
If we learn that we have collected personal data from a child in violation of applicable law, we may delete that information and take steps to disable the relevant account.
16. Security
Atlas uses reasonable administrative, technical, physical, and organizational measures designed to protect personal data against unauthorized access, loss, misuse, alteration, or disclosure. These measures may include authenticated access controls, provider security features, and signed access methods for certain stored media. However, no system, service, transmission method, or storage environment can be guaranteed to be completely secure. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for notifying us promptly if you believe your account or information has been compromised.
17. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will post the revised version and update the "Last updated" date above. If we make material changes, we may also provide additional notice through the Services, by email, or by other appropriate means. Your continued use of the Services after an updated Privacy Policy becomes effective means that the updated Privacy Policy will apply to your continued interactions with the Services, subject to applicable law.
